My mum was suddenly diagnosed with acute renal failure a week ago and I flew over from Melbourne to support and help her navigate the often complicated health system as I work in it. From the beginning I have been impressed with the services, staff and easy layout of the new teaching hospital (with a staggering 8 cafes! ). The renal team have been thorough and organised - the renal fellow has been approachable and friendly. The standout is the Day Procedure Ward which has been amazing. The staff have welcomed my mum and she commented it is like being with a family. They were kind towards her and explained all of the new tests in great detail. I had heard the new hospital was experiencing teething problems, but our contacts have been the opposite. Great asset for those living south of Perth.
