I went into the ER at Maroondah Hospital recently with a broken and dislocated wrist. The staff I met were amazing - the doctors and the nursing staff I simply could not fault.
Two days later I went into ER again at midnight as swelling and bruising had developed. I was kept in short stay and then admitted for 3 nights before undergoing surgery. On my first night in short stay a doctor told me the swelling was my fault for not elevating my arm, however I knew this was not true and felt the swelling and bruising seemed unusual, which I voiced. They decided to admit me and in the morning this same doctor accused me of not using my box sling that night, which was also untrue.
All of the other staff I encountered, in particular the nurses, from ER to the ward and through to the surgical nurses were just amazing. I have bipolar and was suffering severe claustrophobia staying in the hospital, however they were very understanding. I am so very impressed, and each nurse left a positive lasting impression on me.
