My child was a Haematology patient with the Royal Children's Hospital, when he turned 19 he was to be transitioned to Haematology at Box Hill Hospital. Should be a simple process one would feel, however like a previous story l just read, Box Hill lost or did not receive the referral for our Haematologist not only once but three times. In the end l was too embarrassed to ring my son's Specialist at RCH to once again send the referral (which by the way was faxed and snail mailed to ensure it arrived). As l had private health insurance we elected to see the same Haematologist in his private rooms, to this day we have never received an appointment from the OP dept. at Box Hill. It has now been 12 months. As l am a health professional myself, it is very disappointing that this problem with the missing referrals has obviously been going on for some time.
