"Volunteering and Student Placement"

At the beginning of the year, I applied to do volunteering in order to gain experience in working with clients as my educational background is in the area of psychology and social work. A few months ago I was allocated to attend DrugARM as my student placement for social work which has required me to complete 500 hours at DrugARM. At my time at DrugARM thus far, I have gained skills in building rapport with clients, gained knowledge in the AOD field and knowledge regarding alcohol and other drugs themselves. I am required to undertake case management duties, such as writing case notes and preparing for client sessions. I have been very lucky to be allocated student placement at DrugARM as I continue to learn new things every day and continue to gain experience in the human services field.
