My child was referred to Emergency recently with suspected Glandular fever and dehydration. We arrived at Emergency and my child was very unwell, with a high temperature. The staff at Triage were efficient and caring. As we were unsure of what was causing my child's illness, They were given a mask to wear - and we were taken into one of the Isolation rooms.
My child was given pain relief and anti nausea medication by one of the nurses. Within an hour of our arrival, blood tests were taken and we were told it would take about an hour for the results. Exactly 1 hour later the first two tests came back and one of the doctors came in to consult with me and my child.
After another 30 minutes arrangements were made for them to stay overnight for re-hydration and further observation. The Glandular screen blood tests came back, all clear but the doctors wanted to make sure their fever and pain was controlled.
My child received caring and very professional help - I was very grateful to all staff that encountered my child were so thorough, caring and kind. Thank you
