I had my first baby in March of this year (2015) at Sunnybank Private Hospital. The antenatal classes were run by a lady called Ann who is incredibly passionate and dedicated to her job and making sure that all of the soon to be mums are well equipped for the birth. I was so well looked after from the antenatal classes to the birth itself where a midwife called Andrea was an incredible coach and positive person to get me through all the way to the after care. The rooms were very spacious and lovely, the food was fantastic and best of all the after care received by all of the midwives was incredible. I had some trouble breastfeeding however the midwives gave me amazing care and attention and the did not give up in helping me to get started. They had the very best interests of my baby at heart and it is really down to the midwives that gave my baby the very best start in life and I'm incredibly thankful.

Dear Firsttimemummy,

Congratulations on becoming a Mum. We really appreciate, in what must be a very busy time for you, that you have taken the time to tell your lovely story. We are so pleased that you had such a positive experience the whole way through. Ann certainly is passionate and committed, as you say. It is great, too, that you felt Andrea coached you and was positive during your birth helping to make it a positive experience. We are also very aware that breastfeeding can be tricky in that first few days and are pleased to hear the midwives supported you while getting started. I will make sure your story is passed on to all involved, including our cleaning and maintenance staff who keep the rooms lovely and our food services staff who provided the food (you enjoyed!). Birth is such an important time in a woman’s life and it is very useful for us to hear how we made it a positive experience, so we can continue to do more of that specifically.
