"Exhausting experience having to go to four hospitals for tests"

About: Angliss Hospital Austin Hospital Box Hill Hospital Knox Private Hospital

(as the patient),

I went to my doctor with a chest infection in Belgrave. He told me to go to the Angliss Hospital for an x-ray, and bring it back to him, which I did.

The next day he told me to go to the Angliss Hospital for a scan. I had to stop them giving me dye as I am allergic to it, (it is on my record) then take it back to my doctor, who didn't like the results. He told me I would have to have a pet scan, and this can only be referred, by a specialist. My GP contacted my specialist, and I saw him the next day at Knox Private. He made an appointment for me at Austin Hospital.

The day after I saw my specialist who told me that I had a mass on my right lung and that it would probably be malignant. He sent me back to my doctors, and he booked me into Box Hill Hospital for a lung biopsy the following week. I was told it would take 5 hours. Before you have the biopsy you have to have a scan, so I had the scan, and the doctor came out and told me that whatever was there had gone, so there was no use going ahead with the biopsy.

This was over 2 weeks, I had to go to 4 different hospitals, plus had to see a specialist, it was exhausting. There must be a better way, ridiculous I had to go 4 hospitals for different tests.
