"Maitland Private Hospital Paterson Ward"

I highly commend the staff at Maitland Private Hospital Paterson Ward. This was my first stay in a private MH unit and I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were caring, concerned and compassionate. They treated us like intelligent, autonomous, self-determining human beings. The atmosphere in the place was almost like a big family.

The ward itself was good as well; the doors are not locked, patients have their own TV, you are allowed phones/iPods/laptops/related gadgets ... PRN medication is an option, not a compulsory treatment. In a nutshell, if the need arose, I would have no hesitation in going back there.

I have had extremely negative experiences of the public health system, resulting in years of nightmares and related daytime symptoms. I had a pathological dislike of mental health nurses. This experience has allowed me to see MH nurses in a new light, and realise there are some lovely, compassionate people in the profession.
