"ED Nurses"

About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I very begrudgingly attended ED after being advised by a virtual health emergency physician to attend as I have multiple complex health issues including severe anxiety. At my closest/local hospital it is always crowded and the nursing staff are just awful; dismissive, rude, lacking empathy, poor communication & laughing about patients in full earshot & view of the waiting room.

I drove over 30 minutes to St George Hospital purely as I see a specialist there. There were no seats in the waiting room & people were standing. It was obvious it was exceptionally busy and staff were under immense pressure. I was overcome with anxiety at the thought of having yet another distressing ED experience & being treated like a subpar human by nurses.

I was immediately impressed and made to feel at ease. The administrative staff were polite, attentive and helpful. But… The nursing staff were next level absolutely AMAZING! They were professional, attentive, empathic and so very kind. Despite how busy they were, I was listened to, treated with respect and felt like I could approach the nurses at any time as I waited in the waiting room. So, I want to give huge shout out to;

Jade

Grace

Brooke

Sarah

The Doctor I saw was equally impressive. He clearly explained the plan, included me in decisions about my care and listened to my concerns.

I am so appreciative of the care I received. I wish there was more I could say or do to thank the ED staff, especially the nurses. I cannot find the right words to express just how brilliant they are. Thank you so very, very much for making my ED experience positive for once.
