We want to write and show our appreciation for the care we received from the Midwifery Group Practice in Broome, and the staff in general.
We felt very grateful to be cared for by the same staff throughout our pregnancy and birth and afterwards. We were allocated to Midwife Jo who went out of her way to ensure we had every question answered and we felt very safe along the way.
While my partner had wished she would have been able to birth in the bath (they could not monitor her there because we had pregnancy complications and monitor does not work in water), we were really happy to see that everyone went out of their way to keep her comfortable and supported in other ways.
We would thoroughly recommend the MGP in Broome for the care of their pregnancy. It is hard to believe it is a free service. It is almost like being in the private system but not having to pay. It is what all future mothers deserve.
Given how stretched the health system is with experienced staff these days, Broome Hospital should be commended on how experienced, caring and professional the staff really are. They are run off their feet but they still do it with a smile!
We would like to highlight our great care experiences also with Midwives Lorene, Steph, Jaz, Jane, Bree, Bernadette as well as the many medical staff.
Our one criticism would be the food itself (the catering staff were always lovely, if not also run off their feet). For very hungry mothers (and writing this to acknowledge the general ward patients who are weak, ill and trying to heal), the breakfast is really lacking. My partner was left hungry was so hungry by morning tea and after dinner. The other main meal food options are so very bland. Given that they have the gift of having food cooked in house, surely a little bit more time on the cooking process and another dollar making food options appealing and tasty. The cordial was not good. Considering the quality of what metropolitan hospitals serve, it was a bit of a surprise.
All in all though, thank you for your care and I hope the Broome community realise how lucky they are to have you all!
