I went through the Margaret River MGP for my first pregnancy and had a really great experience.

From about 16 weeks through to the labour itself and then 4 weeks post birth, I felt really well supported and taken care of by Alana (as my primary midwife) and Melony (as the alternate). All of the midwives I encountered through the MGP and also at Busselton Hospital (where I birthed) were amazing and offered genuine and persistent care and advice throughout the whole experience. I was also seeing Dr Sam as my GP Obstetrician, who was super professional, caring, and thorough.

Highlights:
- Ease and comfort of communications with MGP midwives, especially post partum for continuous care and advice for me and bub. This also included continuity of care/handover between Alana and Mel.
- Calm and supportive nature of Alana during labour and birth to help me facilitate a physiological and positive birth experience.
- Amazing care from service provided at Busselton Maternity Ward (midwives + doctors) from birth and two days stay after. All midwives were fantastic and offered a great perspective. Special mention to Jan who I saw again a week after birth.
- Comfortable facilities at Busselton Hospital for me, my partner and bub to stay.
- Throughout the whole experience, my partner was fully included in the process.
- Communication/continuity/ease between midwives and my GPO was great.

Considerations for improvement:
- For one of the ultrasound scans, there was a miscommunication between the radiology clinic (Apex MR) and the results weren't actually sent to my obstetrician or midwife. Didn't end up being a big deal but could have been! Room for improvement on communication between service providers.

Would highly recommend MR MGP and Busselton Facility for anyone in the southwest region seeking a positive and supportive antenatal, birth and post natal experience! Massive thank you to the teams mentioned above.

Dear CowaramupLocal,

Congratulations on the birth of your first child! Thankyou for taking the time to write in your feedback of Margaret River MGP, Busselton Maternity Services and your GPO, it is such a pleasure to receive your kind words.

As a coastal service, we have been working hard to provide families in the Margaret River catchment with both collaborative care with your chosen GPO as well as options of birthplace for your labour and birth with a known midwife, with care close to home during your pregnancy and postpartum periods.

We appreciate your feedback about your experience with the radiology provider and the communication breakdown you experienced on this occasion and we will investigate how we are better able to close this loop of communication from our end.

We thankyou again for your lovely feedback, and hope you are settling into parenthood well. If you wish to discuss your experience or any concerns further, please feel free to contact me on 0436005881 or amy.gumbrell@health.wa.gov.au

Warm regards,

Amy Gumbrell
