"Birth of our second baby"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity Positive Birth Program

(as the patient),

I had another positive vaginal birth in the shower at the Bunbury hospital with Anna (midwife). I had an induction as my waters broke over 24 hours before but no active labor. Once the drip was started, the baby was out in 1 hour and 10 minutes. No tearing or grazing. We chose not to have antibiotics and I believe completing the positive birth program helped with advocating for myself in this regard. Completing the program a second time was a great refresher for both myself and my partner and I would definitely do it again if I have another baby.

I did not experience the wild mood swings that I had with my first baby, which has been so wonderful.

Dear mineralitt86,

Congratulations on the birth of your second baby!

We think Midwife Anna is pretty special and we are lucky to have her working in Bunbury and also an educator of the Parent Education Programs within WA Country Health Service.

It was lovely to read that despite the complication of your labour not starting after your waters broke and having an induction, that you were able to use the tools of the program to support the birth that you did have. It was great reading that you felt confident to work with your maternity team to advocate for yourself and your baby.

We look forward to seeing you again for the next baby!

Warm Regards,

Kasey
