Several days ago I came into Carnarvon ED with diarrhoea, vomiting and nausea. I was then taken in and put on a bed in ED. In total I spent a few hours in ED and it was very busy in there, and it sounded like there were some very urgent cases happening one after the other. I would like to congratulate the staff in there for their care of me that afternoon and night, including midwife Orla, Nurse Di, Nurse Kim and Doctor Margo.
I had seen 3 doctors in my stay at ED that afternoon/night, the last one I saw was Doctor Margo, she was very caring, empathetic, she really listened to me and showed she had a good grasp on why I was in there that night. I didn’t have to repeat myself on why I was there or clarify anything much at all, because she had my notes and case all in hand. I could see through her body language, demeanour and communication that she really paid attention to me and involved me in decisions about my care, including asking me important questions. She really knew how to talk to me as an everyday person and not just a patient, and this is very important being a doctor.
I have had varied experiences in hospitals and EDs over the years, some of them have been quite stressful, but this is by far the most positive experience I’ve had. Thank you for taking care of me.
