About: MHERL - Mental Health Emergency Response Line

(as a carer),

I rang MHERL today for a mental health crisis for a loved one living with a psychotic illness and was told ATT were very busy doing home visits this weekend but they'll pass a message on.

I believe this is not good enough with no follow up what so ever and no communication from an ATT on call to say they had received my concerns. I think that MHERL may as well be called a the switch board that doesn't actually even connect you to anyone. Luckily my loved one hasn't suicided. What is the point of an emergency mental health line if it seems no one follows up!

Dear craterwh98

I was very sorry to read your story and hear of your experience interacting with the MHERL service. You did the right thing in contacting MHERL for assistance. I sincerely apologise that on this occasion the MHERL service did not provide sufficient information to meet you and your loved ones needs.

Your feedback will be provided to the team and treated as an improvement opportunity to consider what could have been done differently.

Thank you for reaching out, during such a difficult time.

If you’re wanting to discuss your experience in more detail or require any additional assistance with accessing services please reach out to rpbg.patientexperience@health.wa.gov.au or via phone 08 9224 1637.
