(as the patient),

I contacted Broome Hospital radiology dept to request my shoulder injection to be done under ultrasound guidance but was told that they only offer this service under CT scan. I would like to see Broome Hospital Radiology dept offer to patients this procedure under ultrasound. I believe it would be more cost effective for the hospital and not expose patient to unnecessary radiation. I have to now pay privately to have this procedure done with USS.

Dear broometime69,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns regarding your recent experience with the Broome Hospital Radiology Department and apologies we cannot fulfil the request you seek.

The injection that you require is performed by a specialist radiologist that visits once a month to perform these types of interventional procedures. The radiologist that is currently present has been trained to perform these procedures using CT guidance only for better accuracy. The radiologists scheduled for future visits also only performs them under CT guidance.
