I learned that I had to have surgery, to be honest I'm so scared of that hospital. I have avoided endoscopes and a lot of other appointments see my partner nearly died - they had 3 infections that any one on their own can kill you. They went to surgery for a ruptured spleen and came out of surgery on life support. I had never seen anything like it I was asking every half hr if I should call my partner's parents to come say their goodbyes. I thought I would be planning their funeral it was bad.
Anyway I was now terrified of hospital to the point I stopped looking after my health so I would not go to hospital, I put off day surgery with every excuse right down to I had covid so I wouldn't have to have day surgery twice.
Yrs later I came to a point I was in desperate need to have day surgery, I knew I couldn't avoid it anymore so I had my day of and the pre surgery, I told the dr of my severe fear. He ordered a scan of my heart to make sure it's OK to have surgery, a pre op medication to calm me, he made sure it was good on his end to operate.
Day came I reluctantly went to the hospital, booked in was admitted to the day surgery unit. To be honest the nurses we absolutely amazing with me, such a lovely caring group of nurses then the time came to go to surgery.
Once in the theatre I was prepped but in that time I had a good look around and I noticed how high tec it was in there and how awesome they all were and I just felt calm. Then before I knew it I was awake it was done.
I just want to thank every one of the staff there that looked after me and cared for me - it's because of you that I'm no longer scared of hospital. You all are absolute rockstars so from the bottom of my heart thankyou so much
Best wishes.
