I rang the outpatients department and Hedland Health Campus to update NOK details for my child. I was told this couldn’t be done without contacting their other parent. Even with court order evidence that my child lives and resides with me and visits their other parent pursuant to their wishes, I was faced with we have to contact their other parent. This is extremely confusing and frustrating.
I am also the biological parent of this child. Why do I have to fight to be the NOK on my child's healthcare record? My child lives in Port Hedland, I take them to medical appointments and it’s unclear how someone who resides in the South West can do any of this?
Can there be an embedded process for when clerks speak to parents on the end of the phone who wish to update NOK details for valid reasons with a court order as evidence? I request a copy of this process and / or how this will be changed. There is a risk my child won’t get the appt as their other parent will be contacted (and unfortunately won’t pass this onto us).
