I recently presented to Bunbury ED with abrupt and heavy bleeding in my first trimester of pregnancy. Having had multiple pregnancy losses before and understanding what I needed to do I presented and explained to the nurse that I needed Anti-D and referrals for follow up tests.
I recall the ED was busy with a number of high acuity patients, and I felt the triage nurses managed this appropriately and with great compassion and kindness. I would like to say the most heartfelt thanks to the RN 'Jayne' who listened to my anxiety riddled story of my obstetric history, double and triple checked then escalated to maternity for advice before tracking down the medication I required, administering it and sending me home as quickly as possible. I was highly anxious and whilst to Jayne she might have just been doing her job, it felt as if she went above and beyond for me and my baby (which is happily still growing, with potential thanks to Jayne).
We havent always had the best or most supportive ED experiences however this was one that reaffirmed some faith and I am truly grateful for Jayne taking the time to do what she could for our family. I felt the level of care shown was exactly what I needed at the time to remain calm and reduce some anxiety around what was happening. I'm not usually one to provide feedback however I feel so compelled after my experience to share. And thank you to the ED doctor who phoned the next day to check in, I was also greatly appreciative for the follow up!
Thank you again to Jayne, I felt you were in that moment quite literally a life saver.
